Are laptops the way forward for an education and future career?
Laptops are good for children in schools and shouldn't be taken away. Laptops are essential to a good education because it helps children develop skills and learn how to use them for their future career. now a day nearly the entire world evolves around IT do children would benifit for when they start working and would need these skills to survive. We as one should keep these laptops in school or there would be an epic fail in the future.
Wouldn't it be good if we kept the laptops not only for the children but fr what they could bring to the future?
Laptops are getting cheaper and cheaper all the time and therefore more people are buying them so there isn't much of an issue on the price. They save energy because they're not always plugged in and the have a long battery life and they don't use a lot of electricity.We could also say that laptops are saving the world because they save on a lot of paper because we can keep documents and the hardrive even if we don't need to print off so it's saving the tree. so laptops help save the enviroment.
Not only are laptops getting cheaper and cheaper they're also getting lighter and weigh less. this is good for school children because it decreases the burden of large amounts of exercise books and paper and this helps everyone keeo a healthy life style. ‘Laptops are the way forward for education,’ says Ms Moore, ‘They have transformed the teaching in my classroom,’ says Mr Tarr; ‘Every job in the future will use computers’ says Mr Jones.These people know what they are talking about they are very experianced teachers that are working with computers every day of their lives. So if they think that the laptops should stay in schools and should be intoduced to other schools without laptops then this should happen.
Laptops are also good because they can be a libary, dictionary, exercise books, and so much more. they also give refference material from home which is good as students are getting a lot of homework and might not have to time to go to a libary. so they can get everything off their laptop from home.
Laptops are portible unlike normal PC's which are hard to mave around. Therefore you can carry as many documents as you wish with ease.
Ofcourse there are some downsides to laptops but this can easily be turned around and made better.
If you are using laptops all the time they don't help you improve your hand writing which isn't good for when you come to your exams when you have no other choice but to write. BUT this can be improved in lessons where you might not need laptops.
This is the biggest problem about laptops and it's if all of someone's work is on their laptops and they lose their laptops or it gets stolen then all of their work is gone BUT there is a way of avoiding this and it's called backing up your work. Never forget to back up your work and then it won't be lost. Back it up on something other than your laptop such as another PC, a Pendrive or even another hardrive.
Laptops can cost a lot of money and most school's can't afford to buy them. this is why schools do not use them, BUT now with the credit crunch nearly everything is cheaper and schools should start buying laptops now or if they don't have enough time they could do a fund raiser every school has done one of them before so they all know what their doing.
Obviously schools are worried about children using their laptops inappropriately and could break or get viruses on their laptops. Then it would infected the school network which would cost alot of money to repair.
Overall laptops are brilliant and should be used so much more in schools. all these counter argument are good points but can be easily turned into positive points and prove that laptops are good for schools.
